As part of the implementation of government policy on the social integration of young people, the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education (MINJEC) has developed mechanisms, the purpose of which is to improve the integration socio-economic status of young people and their participation in the economic and social development of the country. It is in this perspective that the Joint Government-UN Youth Connekt Cameroon Program officially launched on December 09, 2019 under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic falls within. Youth Connekt aims to:

(i) Create job opportunities and strengthen youth entrepreneurship;

(ii) Strengthen civic education, citizen participation and social cohesion;

(iii) Strengthen inter- and intra-generational interconnection;

(iv) Reduce the gender gap;

(v) Strengthen the sexual and reproductive health and well-being of adolescents and young people.

In the field of socio-economic integration of young people, it is expected that the Program will promote the creation of 5,000 decent jobs created for young people through the strengthening of employability and support for entrepreneurship. This is the relevance of the implementation of a component called “Youth Connekt Bootcamp and Awards”.

The Bootcamp aims to create an emulation framework for strengthening the entrepreneurial culture, innovation and competition between young people, with a view to bringing out young champions in the field of entrepreneurship. It also aims to strengthen the Cameroonian entrepreneurial ecosystem to facilitate the socioeconomic and professional integration of young people. It is in this perspective that the MINJEC organizes with the support of the UNDP a special Bootcamp on the occasion of the 56th edition of the Youth Day.
