Reasons to donate blood
Donating blood is one of the most selfless and impactful things you can do. Here are some powerful reasons to consider it:
– Save Lives A single donation can help multiple patients, from accident victims to those undergoing surgeries or treatments for diseases like anemia and cancer.
– Boost Your Health Regular blood donation can improve heart health by reducing excess iron levels in the blood, which may lower the risk of heart disease.
– Free Health Checkup Before donating, you get screened for various health markers such as blood pressure, hemoglobin levels, and infectious diseases

Who is eligible to donate blood?
Most people in good health can donate blood, but there are some basic eligibility requirements. Here some few;
Weight : At least 50 kg (110 lbs), though some countries allow donations from those weighing 45 kg for smaller blood volumes.
Health: You must be in good health at the time of donation. You cannot donate if you have a cold, flu, sore throat, or any infection.
Medical History : You must meet minimum hemoglobin levels (usually 12.0 g/dl for females and 13.0 g/dl for males). Certain conditions like HIV, hepatitis, or recent surgeries may disqualify you.

A Reminder
The National Blood Transfusion Service ( NBTS) , in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education (MINJEC), oversees and facilitates blood donation activities to ensure the availability of safe and adequate blood supplies for medical purposes. This partnership aims to enhance public awareness, promote voluntary donations, and strengthen the national healthcare system through coordinated efforts
